Rolls-Royce Ghost Black Badge unveiled in India

Rolls-Royce has announced that customers in India can now order the Ghost Black badge.

Rolls-Royce showcased the new Ghost Black badge in India and announced that it is now accepting orders for luxury limousines. The automaker did not disclose any fixed prices, citing that the price of each unit will be disclosed to customers at the time of commission and reflect “customers’ very different individual needs”. Revealed late last year, the Rolls-Royce Ghost Black badge is claimed to offer a more immersive driving experience than its standard sibling, as well as a number of black-outs targeting a younger customer. Featuring cosmetic ingredients.

The black badge carries several blacked-out styling cues, including the company’s trademark Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and Pantheon grille. The Black Badge also gets custom-made 21-inch carbon fiber composite wheels, complete with the brand’s floating hubcap. Rolls says each customer will be able to choose from 44,000 “off-the-shelf” exterior color options or order their own unique shade. The model shown gets Mandarin interior with black exterior painted finish.

Inside, the cabin is a bespoke combination of leather and sheet metal (called Black Badge Technical Fiber) with a black Bolivar base with woven carbon fiber and metal-clad threads set in a diamond-pattern finish. The bright chrome around the cabin also has a darker finish and even the dash clock has a subdued finish with only the hand tips and the twelve, three, six and nine o’clock markers.

The Ghost unit shown here is equipped with equipment such as illuminated black badge running boards, comfort entry system, rear theater setup, rear-seat massage function, refrigerated compartment, lambswool floor mat, heads-up display and ADAS system. From cosmetics to on-board equipment, each car is expected to be different from the next, with each unit of Black Badge custom-ordered for each customer.

The changes aren’t just skin deep. The 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 of the Ghost is tuned to produce 592bhp and 900Nm, which is 29bhp and 50Nm more than the regular Ghost. Rolls says the more powerful engine is accompanied by a redesigned suspension setup with new air springs that reduce body roll in the corners and a new exhaust. The four-wheel steering and all-wheel drive system have also been revised to focus on dynamics. New in the Black Badge is a “Low” drive mode that accelerates engine responses and gear changes and modifies the sound of the exhaust.

Moving on to other news, Rolls-Royce has begun its shift to an electrified lineup with the company’s first bespoke EV, the Specter, which is currently undergoing testing. The company plans to launch its first all-electric model in late 2023, with plans to go all-electric by 2030.
